About the Company
‘Dvara’ Coined From The Sanskrit Word ‘Dvarata’, meaning ‘Access’, Speaks To the Vision of Enabling Opportunities and New Beginnings for Millions of Low-Income Households.
The Dvara Group is led and managed by professionals with a strong belief in the transformative power of financial services. The group is interested in systemic change and therefore undertakes two kinds of activities: policy research and, investing in/supporting commercial efforts where it believes that there is a market gap.
Dvara believes that a good financial system should deliver on both, inclusion as well as stability, and that a financial system that has the best chance of delivering on this mission would encourage specialisation and be characterised by three key pillars, viz. High Quality Origination – to bridge the “last-mile” challenge; Orderly Risk Transmission – so that risk is transferred to those with the best capability to manage it; and, Robust Risk Aggregation – such that as reasonable number of large, diversified and well-regulated financial institutions (Banks, Insurance Companies, Pension Funds) can warehouse and manage risks transmitted by originators and customers.
Ensuring comprehensive financial inclusion for low-income households (LIH) involves enabling access to basic financial services such as savings, credit, insurance and pensions in a manner that meets their financial needs and aspirations. The deep, continuous exchange between Dvara group of companies and the communities in which they are embedded strengthens the foundation of mutual commitment.
